Aos 18 anos, ingressou na ordem religiosa Coração Imaculado de Maria, onde, ao longo do tempo, lecionou e, posteriormente, assumiu a liderança do departamento de arte. A obra de Corita evoluiu de uma abordagem inicialmente figurativa e religiosa para incluir elementos como imagens, slogans publicitários e referências literárias. Com o tempo, tornou-se mais política, abordando questões como pobreza, racismo e injustiça. Ativa em causas sociais até sua morte em 1986, Corita criou quase 800 edições serigráficas ao longo de sua carreira.
ING: Corita Kent (1918–1986) was an artist, educator, and advocate for social justice. At the age of 18, she joined the religious order of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, where, over time, she taught and later assumed the leadership of the art department.
Corita's work underwent various transformations, progressing from a figurative and religious approach to the incorporation of images, advertising slogans, biblical verses, and literary references. Gradually, it became increasingly political, addressing issues such as poverty, racism, and injustice. Corita remained active in social causes until her death in 1986, having created nearly 800 screen print editions throughout her career.
